Humble Beginnings

Chano Aniceto was raised in the Whispering Winds apartment community, located on the border of Arlington Heights and Palatine. He grew up in a modest two-bedroom apartment surrounded by a large, loving family.

While material things were limited and the family did not always have the space or comforts many take for granted, what Chano received was far more valuable.

He was raised by loving parents who instilled in him:

• Strong values

• Respect for others

• Good manners

• Faith and humility

• The importance of hard work

Those lessons became his greatest treasures.

Chano attended school in Palatine and proudly graduated from Palatine High School, a community that helped shape his discipline and drive. Despite not growing up with material abundance or a large home, he often reflects that those early years gave him something better — character.

The Work Ethic Was Born Early

Responsibility came at a young age. At just 9 years old, Chano began delivering Daily Herald newspapers alongside his father. They woke up at 1:30 a.m., working quietly through the early morning hours.

He did it not for the money, but to help his dad get an extra hour of rest before heading to his second job.

Those early mornings built the grit, discipline, and perseverance that still define how he operates today.

The Beginning of A Plus Decorating Inc. (2008)

After graduating from Palatine High School, Chano briefly pursued college but quickly realized his true path was in the trades — building something real with his hands and serving homeowners directly.

In 2005, he began working under his mentor, Ken Peters, learning the painting trade from the ground up. During those early years, his brother Israel would often help him on jobs.

What started as simple support grew into something much greater. Israel did not just become a professional painter — he became Chano’s right hand. Over the years, Israel has continued to expand his abilities, mastering not only painting but multiple trades that support the company’s full-service capabilities.

With growing experience and confidence, Chano officially founded A Plus Decorating Inc. in 2008, establishing a painting and remodeling company rooted in quality workmanship and honest service.

Over time, the company built a strong reputation across the northwest suburbs through:

• Interior painting

• Drywall repair

• Trim carpentry

• Full interior remodeling

Through this hands-on work, Chano developed a deep respect for flooring as a whole — especially hardwood.

As client demand grew for specialized flooring work, Chano saw a clear opportunity. Instead of subcontracting, he made a decisive move: master the flooring trade and build a dedicated company focused on high-quality floor installation and refinishing.

That vision became reality in 2021, when A Plus Hardwood Floors Inc. was officially established, expanding the family business into a full-service flooring company.

From day one, the mission was clear:
